Vomiting is important for treating drug side effects, disease co-morbidities, and defense against food poisoning. It can serve the function of emptying a toxious chemical from the gut. When you vomit all the toxic substances from the gut is expelled out making the gut clean. And if a person consumes poison he/she is made to vomit by using some vomiting agents, in order to make the person, vomit out the poison.
